The Great Orion Nebula (Messier 42)

The Great Orion Nebula (Messier 12) is very bright emission nebula in the constellation of Orion. M42 is a classic Winter object to image and is one several rich deep sky objects to image in the Orion region. This nebula is rich in ionized Hydrogen alpha (Ha) gas which help feed and start the many young, bright stars nested within.
