The Elephant’s Trunk (IC 1396)

The Elephant’s Tunk (IC 1396) is a large gaseous cloud structure in the constellation Cepheus. The column structure is set to the backdrop of a much larger, round structure of gas and dust. IC 1396 is known for its young star formation. For a number of years I’ve wanted to go after this target as it is a popular one for many astrophotogrphers and often captured with wider field-of-view telescopes.
