Seagull Nebula (IC 2177)

The Seagull Nebula is an emission nebula roughly between the constellations Monoceros and Canis Major. It’s largely composed of wispy Hydrogen gas. The overall structure is fairly large and it gets its name from the general bird-like shape it embodies. IC 2177 is roughly 3,600 lightyears from Earth and this was my first attempt at imaging it. As springtime in the Northern Hemisphere is known as galaxy season this was one of my last nebula targets prior to summer.
