The Crescent Nebula (NGC 6888)

The Crescent Nebula (NGC 6888) is an interesting emission nebula in the constellation Cygnus. This nebula’s shape is actually created as a result of the star at the center expelling the gas shell of its solar atmosphere and that shell interacting with the hydrogen gas surrounding it. The star at the center is a Wolf-Rayet star called WR 136. These types of stars live fast and die young.
